A True Star Shines Everywhere

There are tons of stars in Hollywood.

Tons.

Boston is proud to boast that several of these stars are from the hub. But not all of them are there for the lights or the camera, but for the action. Locals Matt Damon of Good Will Hunting fame and Shooter's own Mark Wahlberg were sitting courtside to watch the Boston Celtics take on the Los Angeles Lakers. (little bro, Donnie Walhberg, was also in attendance, yet not sitting with Marky Mark. hmm?) Not only are these guys fantastic actors but they are die hard C's fans. That's how we breed them in Boston, and I could not be prouder to say that these Boston natives represented cross-country to cheer the Boston Three Party and the rest of our boys on.

It has been 22 years since the Celts have been able to call themselves NBA champions, and now they are just 4 quarters away from doing it again!

Other stars at the game included Jack Nicholson, Tom Arnold and Chris Tucker.

GO GREEN! BEAT LA!

Fans get a little upset at the Today Show

Here at Boston Movie Tours, we always love to hear commentary from Boston fans of any persuasion. Sports, music, movies, or otherwise. Today, I received an especially heartfelt rant about Donnie Wahlberg's appearance on the Today Show. Lexington, MA native, Tracey Desiato wrote in about the segment:

"
I just watched an interview from the Today show with the New Kids on the Block. Crazy lady says to Donnie Wahlberg "Like your brother you're pursuing an acting career." Hello........dudes been actin' since '96! Oh man! He didn't correct her. I woulda, Idda set her straight. Okay I'm crazy. But for reals. He was in Ransom, Southie, The Sixth Sense (dude that shoots Bruce Willis in the beginning...MEMORABLE!), Band of Brothers, and Annapolis. Many other things. And my personal favorite... the show BOOMTOWN. Canceled after one season, but it was sweet. I loved it. I Don't even know why he signed back up for New Kids. Craziness. Probably for the monies. Oh well... I love him anyway. Do whatcha gotta do Donnie. PS: The NKOTB's new song, Summertime. I'm totally gonna listen to it cause I'm a loser, but it sounds too young. Come on guys you're in your 30s. Gotta change the sound a little bit. I Feel like I'm listening to LFO here."

Tra
cey, I couldn't agree more! When you interview someone, ESPECIALLY someone as established as Donnie, you should know your stuff.

The New Kids have just announced a second show for the TD Banknorth Garden for September 28th. Tickets went on sale this week, get yours now!

Southie Sees More Filming this Past Thurs

The movie trucks were setup all along I Street in Southie on Thursday. As we were on tour, we could not not tell exactly where they were shooting but The Quencher Tavern was in the center of activity.

Our best guess is the movie was Real Men Cry with Ethan Hawke, Amanda Peet and Donnie Wahlberg. Real Men Cry has been filming all over Southie on a daily basis.

And if the filmmakers were using The Quencher Tavern, it wouldn't be a coincidence. The Quencher Tavern was used in the 1998 local gangster classic Southie. That movie also starred Peet, Wahlberg and South Boston native who is directing the current flick.

South Boston Sees Real Men Cry

Ethan Hawke's new movie rolled into South Boston this week. Filming started this past Monday on Real Men Cry in the M Street area in Southie. The gritty crime flick, written and directed by Southie native Brian Goodman, also stars Mark Ruffalo, and Amanda Peet.

Murphy's Law, Boston's latest filming hotspot (Gone Baby Gone) almost got involved in the flick serving as a place for the cast and crew to eat between takes. But apparently Murphy's was just under the size requirements.

Another Movie Filming in Southie - Real men Cry

South Boston continues to bring in the big movies. Next on the list is Real Men Cry due to start filming this month. Starring Mark Ruffalo, Ethan Hawke and Amanda Peet, it is an autobiographical crima drama from actor-turned-director Brian Goodman. The story follows two childhood friends as they go through life surviving through petty robbery and other crimes in South Boston.

This is Peet’s second South Boston movie. She had a very early role in the local mob classic Southie with Donnie Wahlberg.
