Matt Damon on Entourage

I was listening to an interview this morning with always funny Jeremy Piven who let it out that the Boston connection on Entourage continues this Sunday. Boston area local Matt Damon will be making a cameo along with Lebron James.

Earlier this year, the Patriots Tom Brady appeared on an episode along with executive producer and Boston local Mark Wahlberg.

Check out this hilarious trailer below.

Mark Wahlberg looking for "Tough Broads", "Crack Addicts", and Cambodian Men

Mark Wahlberg is coming back to Boston to play Lowell's Mickey Ward in his new movie, The Fighter. Batman's Christian Bale will also be in the upcoming movie playing his younger brother who helped him train to become the world lightweight champion in the 80's. This will be the Dorchester native's third movie shot in Massachusetts, behind The Perfect Storm (2nd highest grossing MA movie of all time) and The Departed.

The movie will actually be shot primarily in Lowell in July. Although we were not able to find the link on Boston Casting's site, the Loaded Gun reports they will be holding an open casting call tomorrow at 129 Braintree St. in Allston from 10am to 4pm. They are specifically looking for:
  • Women from 25-40 to play "tough broads"
  • Men from ages 25-40 to play "crack addicts"
What we were able to find on Boston Casting's site was an open casting call for this Monday from 11am to 4pm for Cambodian men ages 25-40 who speak fluent Khmer. If you fit any of these profiles, bring your headshot and resume with you to either of these casting calls.

Mark Wahlberg Says Hello to Your Mother

First it was Sarah Silverman’s I’m F**ing Matt Damon. Now another local Boston boy, Mark Wahlberg is sizzling on YouTube for his Saturday Night Live skit.

After SNL’s Andy Samberg made fun of Wahlberg for talking to plants in his recent movie, The Happening, Wahlberg went on Jimmy Kimmel and lambasted Samberg threatening to break his nose. The Kimmel video has been downloaded over a half million times on Youtube.

Wahlberg then appeared in an SNL skit the following week making fun of the whole situation while coining a new catchphrase, "Say hello to your mother for me."

Pretty funny stuff. Check out the timeline below.

TIMELINE.....

A True Star Shines Everywhere

There are tons of stars in Hollywood.

Tons.

Boston is proud to boast that several of these stars are from the hub. But not all of them are there for the lights or the camera, but for the action. Locals Matt Damon of Good Will Hunting fame and Shooter's own Mark Wahlberg were sitting courtside to watch the Boston Celtics take on the Los Angeles Lakers. (little bro, Donnie Walhberg, was also in attendance, yet not sitting with Marky Mark. hmm?) Not only are these guys fantastic actors but they are die hard C's fans. That's how we breed them in Boston, and I could not be prouder to say that these Boston natives represented cross-country to cheer the Boston Three Party and the rest of our boys on.

It has been 22 years since the Celts have been able to call themselves NBA champions, and now they are just 4 quarters away from doing it again!

Other stars at the game included Jack Nicholson, Tom Arnold and Chris Tucker.

GO GREEN! BEAT LA!

Gone Baby Gone is In!

The Golden Globe(R) nominations were announced yesterday and Boston is well represented with at least six nominations depending on how you want to count them.

Gone Baby Gone
Our prediction of Amy Ryan earning a Best Supporting Actress nod was dead on.

In Gone Baby Gone, Ryan's character seems like she is straight from the streets of
Dorchester. Her Boston accent and portrayal of a down-on-her-luck mom is as authentic as it gets. If there is one nomination that picks up the hardware, this is the one we are rooting for.

Some other notable Boston nominations...
  • Best Picture. Partially filmed in Boston, The Great Debaters with Denzel Washington earned a nomination.
  • BEST TELEVISION SERIES – COMEDY OR MUSICAL. Inspired by life of Boston local Mark Wahlberg, ENTOURAGE is HBO's new staple replacing The Sopranos as a "must see." Wahlberg is also the Executive Producer.
  • Boston Legal earned a nod with William Shatner picking up a nomination for BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION.
  • Local funnyman Steve Carell got on the nomination board for the hit NBC show The Office. Carell grew up just outside Boston in the Acton/Concord area. The official nomination....BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN TELEVISION SERIES – COMEDY OR MUSICAL.

Mark Wahlberg Attends Shooter Premiere in Boston

The premiere of at Shooter at Lowes Boston Common brought out all the best dressed folks in Boston. It may have helped that hometown boy Mark Wahlberg was in attendance to introduce the movie and host the after party at Felt. The nigh benefited the Mark Wahlberg Foundation. It was a great homecoming for Walberg after his Oscar Nomination for The Departed.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get close enough to Mark to grab a shot but here are some pics from the night.

PICS FROM PREMIERE

Shooter Review
3.5 out of 5 Stars

Shooter is Rambo circa 2007 where a retired sniper comes out of his cabin for one last mission (which that turns bad of course). Wahlberg shows he is a bona fide action star who carries the role like a pro. There is plenty of action and I loved all of the dialog about the art of a sniper. You could tell the filmmakers really did their homework.

On the downside, there were plenty of plot holes and some not-so great acting by some of the supporting cast. One of the main villains (toothpick guy) was just unbelievable from the start. And Danny Glover just did not fit in his role either. But if you need your fix of action, check it out.

Mark Wahlberg - From Shooter to Boxer

Mark Wahlberg is certainly one busy Boston guy. After coming a bit short on the Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Departed, Walhberg is out promoting his new Shooter movie coming out this Friday. On his Jay Leno appearance last night, Mark said it was one of the toughest physical roles he’s ever had.

Walberg also let us know he is training hard for an upcoming Boston area boxing movie with Matt Damon called The Fighter. The movie is base on the true life story of ''Irish'' Micky Ward's rise to the lightweight title. According to Variety, filming is due to start this summer.

Oscar Night in Boston - The Departed Wins Big

Sunday night was a huge night for the city of Boston and The Departed as it scored 4 Oscars. I headed off to the Ellie Fund gala at the State Room around 7pm. My wife couldn’t attend as she is home ready to give birth to our 3rd child (I was on constant text message alert).

What a great place for an event. The gala overlooking Boston was first rate with big screens setup everywhere. Valerie at Avant Guard Events organized the gig which brought in big bucks for the Ellie Fund.

The Departed Cleans Up……
There was definitely a big buzz in the audience as the night went along. First off, local boy William Monahan won for best adapted screenplay for The Departed. Unfortunately, our other local favorite Mark Wahlberg lost out on Best Supporting Actor. After the The Departed won Best Editing, there was a lull in the room. Note to the Academy…..the Oscars don’t have to last 3 ½ hours!

But then WE won Best Picture (The Departed) and Best Director (Martin Scorsese) and the crowd went wild hi-fiving. I say “WE” because we Bostonians love to take ownership over local flicks. We are kind of proud like that. And I think that's exactly some of the character that shines through in our movies.

Celeb-wise, the event was a little lacking probably party due to the fact that Mark Wahlberg and crew were a little busy out in LA (Mark was nominated for Best Supporting Actor).

We also got a first glance at new marketing video for the Massachusetts Film Office thanks to Nick Paleologos, new executive director of the Massachusetts Film Office and Richard Krezwick. Featuring interviews from Matt Damon and Sean Penn, it will serve as a great piece that you will see on the Mass website shortly. Loved the background Boston song by Augustana.
